There's a particular kind of songwriter who works entirely outside the machinery of the music industry — not as a romantic gesture, but simply because the machinery never quite knew what to do with him.

Born in Coventry U.K. and immigrated to Canada as a child. He began writing songs in 2001, recording demos on an eight-track — voice, guitar, finished compositions moving freely across pop's wider landscape: Beatlesque folk-pop, the swagger of glam, the dopey ennui of grunge, Pink Floyd psychedelia, and Scott Walker's orchestral elegance. The range isn't restlessness — it's what happens when the song leads, and the writer follows.

In 2011 he signed with MGM Music in Los Angeles, a boutique label specializing in publishing and music placement. The songs were too singular for easy categorisation, and when the label dissolved the recordings sat. He turned instead to literary fiction, producing several novels and short stories over the following years, adding visual art to a quietly accumulating body of work.

These demos were technically realised in 2026, after more than two decades of waiting, using modern production tools to fulfill the original 8-track arrangements. The songs themselves are unchanged — written and arranged over a ten-year span, exactly as they were.

He avoids the stage and the spotlight with equal conviction. What drives him is something closer to obsession — the belief that a great three-minute pop song stands among the finest achievements of the human mind. That compression of sweet melody and bitter words into something emotionally devastating and perfectly formed. His sensibility is essentially romantic in the oldest sense — eyes fixed on the stars, feet firmly in the gutter, finding beauty in both.

That's what the songs have always been about.
